Retired NFL Player in Roundup Lawsuit

Merril Hoge, Former running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago bears has joined the many hurt by RoundUp by filing a lawsuit against Monsanto/Bayer AG and the carcinogenic chemical glyphosate used in the weed killer. After being diagnosed in 2003 with non-Hodgkin’s he discovered his cancer may be linked to the use of RoundUp. Hoge had worked on a farm in Idaho as a teenager.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer stated that glyphosate is likely carcinogenic.

Exposure to RoundUp may cause several health issues other than just cancer like kidney and liver disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, neurological disorders like Parkinson’s disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. There may even be far more adverse health effects linked to glyphosate.

Bayer AG is currently facing an exponential number of lawsuits from over 18,000 plaintiffs after they bought Monsanto for $63 billion. Bayer and Monsanto continue repeated losses in court, and can do nothing but continue appealing the decisions. The evidence is overwhelmingly proving the dangerous nature of this chemical that Monsanto knowingly withheld information about. The company even helped fund studies that concealed the effects of this toxic chemical in a nefarious plot to put profit over people. When these duplicitous companies like Monsanto fail to warn consumers about the dangers of their products and the risk associated in their use, it is the consumers who suffer. They must be held accountable or they will continue to engage in this behavior that hurts the consumer.
